Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 to be accompanied by a Galaxy S6 Edge version with curved display

UPDATE: Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are now official. Check out our first impressions here.

Samsung has been getting a lot of pressure this year from the high-end and entry-level smart phone segments. For 2015, the Korean smart phone maker will be introducing its new Galaxy S6 from a clean slate with Project Zero. The new flagship won’t be just another incremental update in both hardware and appearance. According to some sources, Project Zero will be breaking its own mould so hopefully we can expect a design that’s totally brand new.

Despite its new internal project name, the Galaxy S brand would be retained and Sammobile claims that the next big thing will be called the Galaxy S6. Being one of the forerunners of display technology, you can also expect a Galaxy S6 Edge variant that features a curve screen like the current Galaxy Note Edge, as shown above.

As usual, the Galaxy S6 Edge would be a limited run model which is likely to be sold through a handful of countries. If money is no object, you can probably pick one up locally with an extra premium price tag once it goes on sale in other countries.

So far there’s no concrete visibility on its specs, but the Galaxy S6 should be coming with a Quad HD display (2560×1440) and a newer 64-bit Octa-Core Exynos 7420 or Snapdragon 810 processor. With Selfies continuing to be a trend, it is likely to be fitted at least with a 5MP front camera while the back gets a 16MP or 20MP main shooter. The Galaxy S6 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2015 and we’re guessing it could make an appearance during MWC 2015 in March.
