Huawei Ascend Mate 7 officially launched in Malaysia

Huawei Malaysia has officially announced its new Ascend Mate 7 phablet which will be available starting tomorrow 14th November. There are 2 variants available, the standard version with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is priced at RM1,799 while its higher-spec premium version (3GB RAM with 32GB storage) is priced at RM1,999. In terms of colours, the standard Ascend Mate 7 will be available in either Moonlight Silver or Obsidian Black, while the Premium unit is only available in Amber Gold.

To recap on the specs, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is quite a beast with a 6″ Full HD IPS Neo display and it runs on their own Hi-Silicon Kirin 925 Octa-Core processor. It also gets a 13MP Sony BSI camera and a front facing 5MP camera. With power users in mind, Huawei is packing a generous serving of 4,100mAh capacity battery and it supports a faster Cat 6 4G LTE connectivity. Build wise it feels upmarket with its metal body and despite its large screen and battery capacity, it feels slightly bigger than the Galaxy Note 4. Out of the box, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with their latest EMUI 3.0.

One of the key highlight is its single touch finger print scanner that’s mounted at the back. Unlike other fingerprint scanners that require swiping motion or pressing of a home button, the fingerprint scanner on the Mate 7 can unlock immediately upon recognised touch thanks to its higher 508ppi (pixels per inch) scanner. This allows you to unlock with your fingerprint in any direction even with wet fingers. For better peace of mind, Huawei is offering one year one-on-one swap policy for Ascend Mate 7 owners. As an added bonus, they are also giving a free smart cover worth RM128.
