The Samsung Gear S smart watch is their first wearable device which you can live without having a paired smart phone. To show that it isn’t just your regular smart watch, Samsung has released a commercial highlighting what it could do for you.
With a compatible smart phone, it can act as a secondary screen and it can be used for navigation using Nokia HERE Maps. Since it has its own 3G sim slot, you can use the Gear S to make calls and even send SMS. With an on-screen keyboard, it is possible to type on its 2″ Curve Super AMOLED display and it does support swipe gestures for quicker input. While it is great for the gym or situations where you can’t take a phone from the pocket, the Gear S could be too small as a smart phone replacement for power users.
