Not to be outdone by LG, the new Moto G (2014) is now getting Android 5.0 Lollipop via OTA (over the air) update. Considering Moto’s cheap and cheerful smart phones are using plain vanilla Android, it shouldn’t take too long for them to roll out compared to its heavily skinned competitors.
The new OS update is 386.7MB in size and it brings the latest Material Design UI with a new lock screen along with performance and battery life improvements. Arstechnica reports that the Lollipop update is rolling out for unlocked US units, and we reckon it shouldn’t take too long for it to trickle to other international markets. Those who are using the earlier version of Moto G, Moto X and its low cost Moto E should be receiving the same Lollipop treat shortly after this. You can check out the full Lollipop change log over here.
In case you missed it, the 2nd gen Moto G is now available in Malaysia at RM688. This is the dual-SIM 3G version with 8GB of on-board storage. The latest Moto G is a minor update over the previous version, with a bigger 5.0″ HD 720p display, front facing stereo speakers and upgraded 8MP + 2MP cameras.
