Maxis offers waterproof Xperia M2 Aqua on contract

Looking for a mid-spec smart phone that you can take to the swimming pool? The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua is now being offered on contract via Maxis. Retailing at RM999, Maxis is offering the waterproof device from RM399 with 24 months contract of MaxisOne Plan which comes with unlimited talk and SMS along with 2GB of data at RM128/month. For those prefer to commit less, it is also available at RM599 with MaxisOne Plan Lite which comes with 1GB of data and unlimited calls/SMS within Maxis network for RM78/month.

To recap on the specs, the Xperia M2 Aqua is similar with its earlier Xperia M2. It gets a 4.8″ display that does qHD resolution of 960×540 and it is powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM. It also has 8GB of on-board storage which is expandable via microSD. For high speed downloads, it also supports 4G LTE.

For imaging it gets an 8MP camera at the rear that can be triggered with a dedicated camera button, while the front sports a basic VGA camera. With a 2,330mAh capacity battery embedded, the Xperia M2 Aqua weighs 149 grams and has a thickness of 8.6mm. Like the latest Xperia Z3 series, the Xperia M2 Aqua boasts the highest waterproofing on a smart phone with its IP68 rating. This lets you submerge the phone under 1.5 metres of fresh water up to 30 minutes.
