It seems that Malaysia is a gold mine for device manufacturers. We are seeing new brands coming in and, more and more frequently, brands are launching devices in Malaysia faster than many other markets (if you exclude Apple), so it’s no surprise that ZTE — one of the most prolific wireless telecommunications device manufacturers in the world will be launching five new devices for the Malaysian market.

With quality and affordability at the heart of the company’s philosophy, ZTE aims to provide Malaysians with what the brand believes are superior product offerings at affordable prices.

One of the five phones will be the STAR1, a 5-inch smart phone that features a full HD IPS LCD display (1080×1920 pixels, 441 ppi), LTE connectivity, 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of on board storage. There’s also option to expand storage with microSD up to an additional 64GB. In terms of cameras, the STAR1 gets an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The device runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat and is powered by a 2,300mAh battery.

ZTE says the STAR1 will be offered at an incredibly affordable price. The ZTE STAR1 will be launched alongside four other models with ranging specifications to accommodate the different consumer demands and budgets, including:

A quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon device with a 13MP camera
A quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek device with a 5-inch FWVGA (854×480) display
A 7.5mm thin device with octa-core 1.4GHz MediaTek processor and a 8MP camera
A dual-core 1.2GHz ultra affordable smart phone

ZTE’s announcement is happening next week and we’ll keep you posted on updates as it happens, so stay tuned.
