The entry-level Sony Xperia E3 which was announced during IFA 2014 is now available in Malaysia. Priced at RM659, this is Sony’s most affordable 4G LTE smart phone and it is currently available in either black or white colours. As part of its Deepavali promo, they are giving additional 4GB microSD card and an entry to join a smart phone lucky draw.
The Xperia E3 gets a 4.5″ IPS scratch resistant display that pushes a modest 854×480 pixels resolution. Underneath, it runs on a proven 1.2GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM, along with 4GB of storage which can be expanded using microSD card. At the rear, it gets a 5MP camera with assisted flash that can shoot Full HD 1080p videos, while over at the front settles for a basic VGA camera. Despite its low price tag, the camera comes with extra features including HDR, superior auto, and Timeshift Burst.
A unique feature on the Xperia E3 is a quick launch that’s triggered by flicking your wrist. All you’ll need is to preset your app and you can start it up in a single flick. In terms of design, it follows the current Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact with its rounded frames and the corners are toughen with resin material for durability. Overall it weighs 144 grams and has a thickness of 8.5mm.
Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat and with a 2,330mAh capacity battery, Sony says that it can last up to 2 days on a single charge. In terms of connectivity, it gets WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and not forgetting support for 4G LTE on a single SIM.
