Sony Xperia provides more fun in water with its series of underwater apps

Sony has been in the forefront of making waterproof flagship smart phones starting with the Xperia Z. Apart from offering extra protection and underwater content possibilities, Sony has released a couple of interesting apps that are designed for underwater use.

These specially developed apps can only be used underwater and it does know when it is submerged by emitting an inaudible sound and it measures the pick up from its two microphones. Some of these apps are just purely done out of fun while there are others that let you play a submarine game which works only when the phone is submerged.

Unfortunately these underwater apps are only available for the Sony Xperia Z and Xperia Z1s in the US. We’ve tried to install it on our Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z2 but the Play Store refuses to let it install. Such restrictions is quite a pity considering they have left out the majority of other waterproof smart phone models which could very well utilise such apps. If you could use them, do take note of your water resistance levels and Sony advises users not to keep it submerged beyond 30 minutes.
