Sony Xperia Z3 Compact appears again. Shows off its new flap covers

The Sony Xperia Z3 and its smaller Xperia Z3 Compact will be announced very soon at the upcoming IFA 2014 in Berlin. For its upcoming flagship model, Sony has given it a fresher design with rounded edges. The flap design has been redesigned as well to compliment this new look.

If you can’t get enough of the Xperia Z3/Z3 Compact, here are some fresh new images of the device and this time a closer look at its water resistant flap covers.

On the current Xperia Z2, Sony had combined both micro USB and its micro-SIM slots under a single long flap cover. This can be very annoying especially with the long cover dangling around while charging using a power bank.

For its next model, Sony has gone back with a single flap for the micro-USB and have moved the micro-SIM tray onto the same side as the microSD expansion slot. Anyway, if you’re looking to charge the device hassle free, there’s still a magnetic dock where you can plug in third party dock to USB chargers like this one.

In terms of specs, the Sony Xperia Z3 is said to be just a minor update with a 2.4GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor and probably a slightly smaller Full HD display at 5.15″. Hopefully that is just a prototype spec as the flagship rivals have pushed the bar further with faster processors and Quad HD displays.
