ASUS FonePad 7 8GB version now at only RM429

ASUS Malaysia is now making its entry-level dual-SIM phablet even more affordable than before. The ASUS FonePad 7 with 8GB storage is now priced at just RM429, which is RM170 off its usual price. That’s quite a bargain considering its entry level 4GB version was released at RM499.

To recap on the specs, the FonePad 7 (FE170CG) has a 7″ display that pushes 1024×768 pixel resolution and it runs on a dual-core 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 processor with 1GB of RAM. For imaging, it gets a rather basic 2MP camera at the back and a front facing VGA unit. If the 8GB of storage isn’t enough, you’ll be happy to know that the FonePad 7 accepts microSD cards up to 64GB capacity.

Keeping the lights on is a large 3,950mAh battery which is rated to last 10 hours of continuous use. Like most devices at this price range, it has dual-SIM slots in Micro-SIM format and it supports faster 3G HSPA+ speeds up to 42Mbps.

At the moment, it is running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with ASUS Zen UI and a newer Android 4.4 KitKat is said to be on the way. The 8GB version of the FonePad 7 is available in 4 colours – Black, White, Red & Blue.
