VIDEO: MediaTek MT6795’s 480fps slow-mo capability demonstrated

Just recently MediaTek has announced its new MT6795 processor which aims to take on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor. Taking a huge leap from its low-cost credentials, the MT6795 is their first 64-bit True Octa-Core processor that supports 4G LTE connectivity and high-resolution 2K display. It is targeted for upcoming premium smart phones and each of its 8 cores can run up to 2.2GHz.

The new Soc (System on Chip) also boast incredible multimedia playback and recording, which supports recording and playback of 480fps videos in Full HD resolution. That allows epic recording of slow-motion videos at 1/16 of a second. If you’re wondering how is it like, MobileGeeks has gotten a hands-on with a MT6795 reference unit that’s using Sony’s IMX220 20.7MP camera sensor.

Can MediaTek convince mainstream players to adopt their processors in their upcoming flagships? Recently Sony is said to be planning up to 5 new smart phones next year with MediaTek chips on board and this new MT6795 could possibly be an option. With Chinese smart phone brands flooding the market with cheap and decent smart phones, MediaTek might be an inevitable choice in the near future.

You can watch the 480fps playback in action after the break.
