TMgo appears online. Is this TM’s upcoming 4G LTE service?

UPDATE: The TMgo product page is now password protected.

Fixed broadband player TM is expected to launch its 4G LTE service this year. Just recently it had acquired a major stake in P1 which will provide them with the necessary spectrum to roll out commercial services.

Now a new product page has appeared online which reveals TMgo as the official name for its upcoming 4G LTE service. At time of writing, the TMgo page seems to be incomplete and the contents might subject to change pending its actual launch. From what we can gather, there will be 2 wireless solutions available – a USB 4G LTE modem and a 4G LTE MiFi.

Both options are priced at RM98 and it comes preloaded with 2GB of quota. In addition, TMgo is also giving additional 500MB for the first 6 months, provided that your subscription is active. According to its User Guide, TMgo is using D-Link DWM-221 for its USB modem and DWR-930 for its wireless hotspot router.

There are a variety of top ups ranging from daily, weekly and monthly options. On the website, its highest monthly offering available is 3GB for RM40 but on its FAQ, there are additional options such as 3.5GB (30 days) at RM30 and 6GB (60 days) for RM50.

The FAQ also mentions that download speeds are capable up to 20Mbps but subject to best effort basis. While other LTE players operate at 1800MHz or 2600MHz bands, TMgo is running at a lower 850MHz which should be able to provide a wider reach especially in non-urban areas.

Coverage wise, the website lists Pendang, Kedah and Melaka Tengah, Melaka as current service areas with more places to be covered very soon. We are taking this with a pinch of salt for now as the website along with its coverage map isn’t fully functional at the moment.

You can check out TMgo’s product page over here.
