Cinemas to play Negaraku during Merdeka week

As we approach Malaysia’s 57th independence day on 31st August, the national anthem will be played at all cinemas during Merdeka week. Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek says that the response of last year’s cinema initiative has been positive among cinema operators and the public. Our Negaraku anthem will be played before movie screenings for a week before 31st August.

He added that the national independence day should be celebrated by all quarters and it shouldn’t be seen as just a government initiative. Just recently Celcom has just kicked off its Merdeka video contest where participants can join and upload their videos onto YouTube. More info on the Merdeka video contest here.
