Xiaomi Redmi 1S coming to Malaysia next month. Affordable Dual-SIM smart phone under RM500

During today’s event, Xiaomi has also announced that its affordable Redmi 1S smart phone is coming to Malaysia. Priced at 799 Yuan in China, the Redmi 1S is is likely to be priced around RM400. This is a new 4.7″ Android Smart Phone with Dual-SIM capability.

While it looks similar to the standard Redmi that’s sold in Singapore, the Redmi 1S which we are getting is a step above. It gets a Quad-Core 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board storage and a 8MP main camera.

As comparison, the Redmi that’s available in Singapore runs on a 1.5GHz Quad-Core MediaTek processor and comes with just 4GB of on-board storage. The back cover is removable and it gets a replaceable 2,000mAh capacity battery and a microSD expansion slot. The front 4.7″ uses IPS panel that does a 1280×720 pixels resolution.

Like other Xiaomi products, the Redmi 1S will be sold through their online store at mi.com/my by June next month. The bigger Redmi Note in high-spec trim will be coming to Malaysia but no dates have been mentioned.
