Samsung to announce its new high-end tablets with AMOLED display next month

Samsung has teased its upcoming Galaxy event with the theme “Tab Into Colour” and is happening on 12 June in New York. Word has it that Samsung will be announcing its new high-end tablets that would feature a high resolution AMOLED display. The last time Samsung used AMOLED on a tablet was the Galaxy Tab 7.7 more than 2 years ago. Today all Samsung tablets including its mainstream Galaxy Tab 4 and high-end Tab Pro/Note Pro series are using LCD based displays.

The new device is rumoured to be called as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S and said to come in multiple sizes – 8.4″ and 10.5″ with a possibility of an even larger 13.3″ version. The Super AMOLED display is expected to push a ultra high 2560×1600 resolution similar with their current top-of-the-line Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The speculated spec list continues with an Octa-Core Exynos 5420 processor that consists of 4x 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 cores and 4x 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 cores. Design wise, the back is expected to follow the current Galaxy S5‘s perforated back cover design.

The folks at Sammobile had an exclusive look at the upcoming Galaxy Tab S device and you can check out the leaked images after the break. If you look at the back, there are 2 round dots at the bottom. We wonder what would that be used for.
