UPDATE: A couple of online retailers have started selling the HTC One M8 from RM2,199.
If you’ve been holding out for the HTC One M8, its official Malaysian pricing has been revealed at RM2,399 for the 16GB version. HTC will be launching the device officially next Thursday on the 8th of May. Pricing wise, the One M8 is an increase over last year’s HTC One (M7) which was launched in Malaysia at RM2,299 for 32GB and RM2,499 for 64GB storage capacities.
To recap on the HTC One M8, the unibody aluminium design has been enhanced with more metal and improves tremendously over its previous One M7. The display has been increased from 4.7″ to 5.0″ but its resolution is still maintained at Full HD 1920×1080 pixels. In terms of processor, the version which we are getting here is a Quad-Core 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor that’s mated to 2GB of RAM, which is also found on its rival Galaxy S5. If the 16GB storage is not enough, thankfully HTC has finally included a microSD expansion slot which supports the latest 128GB microSD cards.
The battery is bigger than the old One at 2,600mAh but it is still among the smallest if compared with today’s flagship devices. New on the HTC One M8 is not one but 2 cameras at the rear which features the same Ultrapixel camera that shoots just 4MP effectively. The new secondary camera offers a Refocus feature where you can select which subject to focus on after the picture is taken. Over at the front, the One M8 gets a 5MP camera which is of higher resolution than its shooter. The same awesome Boom Sound front stereo speakers has been retained maintained and its speaker chambers have been redesigned to produce 25% louder output.
In terms of availability, retailer IMCC says it will be available sometime soon and it is likely to go on sale shortly after its 8th May launch. To get better acquainted with the HTC One M8, you can check out our first impressions and hands-on video.
