Oppo detachable Smart Lens Camera spotted. Adds better camera and 10X Zoom to existing smart phones

Apart from making Blu-ray players and smart phones, Oppo seems to be getting their hands in the camera business as well. A couple of leaked images reveal Oppo’s upcoming Lens Camera, which is similar to Sony’s QX and Kodak’s PixPro add-on lens camera.

Information on the camera is limited right now but what can be confirmed is that it uses WiFi & NFC for connectivity while the lens has 10X Optical Zoom. Some speculations also suggest a 16MP sensor, Image Stabilisation and uses SD card for storage. Oppo might be turning to Sony to supply its image sensor, considering their Oppo Find 7 camera uses Sony’s IMX214 Exmor RS sensor.

The picture also shows the camera being attached to a phone using a clamp accessory, similar to Sony’s Lens Camera. So far there’s no word of its launch and pricing. If it is targeting for wider adoption, the Smart Lens Camera should be compatible for non-Oppo smart phones on either Android or iOS platform.

Check out more images of the Oppo Smart Lens Camera after the break.
