100,000 Xiaomi Redmi Note sold out in 34 minutes

Chinese smart phone maker Xiaomi had managed to sell 100,000 units of its newly announced 5.5″ Redmi Note in 34 minutes. It is still a remarkable achievement although it isn’t as dramatic as its earlier Xiaomi Hongmi that sold the same amount in just 4 minutes.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note is the bigger sibling of its popular entry level Redmi. It comes with a bigger 5.5″ display that does 720p HD resolution and runs on a faster Octa-Core processor.

There are 2 models available with the highest spec being priced at 999 Yuan (About RM530) which offers a 1.7GHz Mediatek MT6592 Octa-Core processor and 2GB of RAM. Meanwhile, its lower spec version carries a 1.4GHz Octa-Core unit and 1GB of RAM for a slightly cheaper 799 Yuan (About RM425).

Both versions get a 13MP main camera and a front facing 5MP shooter, while on-board it gets a 8GB of storage which can be expanded with microSD. Being a “Phablet”, it gets a rather generous 3,200mAh capacity battery and it runs on Android 4.2.2 out of the box.

So far there’s no word of its availability outside of China and Xiaomi has already indicated that it will be spreading its wings to Malaysia sometime soon. In Singapore, Xiaomi had released both Redmi and its high-end Mi 3 models which have been snapped up under 8 minutes and 2 minutes respectively.
