ASUS ZenFone pricing revealed. Expected to arrive in Malaysia next month

ASUS will be putting more focus on smart phones this year with their new ZenFone line up. Now it appears that the 3 ASUS ZenFone models will be coming to Malaysia very soon with pricing ranging between RM299 and RM899. From the picture above, it looks like pre-orders have started at some dealers with stock availability targeted next month.

The top of the range ZenFone 6 is priced at RM899, offering a large 6″ display 720p HD display and runs on a 2GHz Dual-Core Intel Z2580 processor with 2GB of RAM. On-board it has 8GB of storage which can be expanded to microSD up to 64GB. Connectivity wise, it supports 3G HSPA+ up to 42Mbps with Dual-SIM slots. The ZenFone 6 should be able to provide an all day battery life as it comes with a rather decent 3,230mAh capacity battery coupled with Intel’s power efficient processors. For taking pictures, it comes with a 13MP PixelMaster camera with 5-elements lens while the front comes with a 2MP camera. Out of the box, it runs on Android 4.3 but it will be upgradable to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.

Next the smaller ZenFone 5 is priced at RM599 which comes with a more compact 5″ IPS HD 720p display. On the brochure above, the ZenFone 5 is listed to have a 1.6GHz Intel processor which is different from what we’ve seen earlier. It gets a smaller 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage. Like the ZenFone 6, it also gets support for Dual-SIM cards. The main camera is a notch down with a 8MP shooter and it comes with a 2,050mAh battery which is now removable.

Meanwhile, the ZenFone 4 is their entry level offering with an affordable RM299 price tag. It comes with a 4″ WVGA display and runs on a lower Intel Atom 1.2GHz Z2520 dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage. Like the other 2 models, The ZenFone 4 also comes with microSD expansion and dual-SIM slots. The battery on the ZenFone 4 is rather small with a mere 1,170mAh capacity unit. For taking pictures, it gets a 5MP camera at the back and a front facing 2MP unit.

Overall, these are rather low to mid spec Android smart phones targeting at the affordable smart phone segment. The ZenFone 6 looks rather enticing of having a large 6″ display and dual-SIM capability for less than RM1,000. You can click on the image above for a larger size. We will be heading to their regional launch event next month so stay tuned for our hands-on and first impressions with the ASUS ZenFone.
