Water resistant phones are becoming more common these days with more high-end phones announced with such capabilities. The CEO of Archos probably didn’t realise the difference between water resistant and waterproof before conducting a live demo of its Quechua 5 smart phone on TV.
The Quechua is a series rugged devices designed for outdoor enthusiast and comes with a IP54 rating. That’s sufficient to withstand all weather conditions such as rain and splashes but it can’t be submerged under water. Looks like the CEO wasn’t aware of its product water resistant capabilities before dunking it in a container filled with water. No prize for guessing what happens after that. Watch the video after the break.
