LG G2 mini is now official with smaller 4.7″ screen and mid-level hardware

The LG G2 mini was expected to be revealed at MWC 2014 but looks like the folks at LG couldn’t wait any longer. LG Netherlands has revealed details of the upcoming compact device which will be available with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 or a Nvidia Tegra 4i processor. Both models would come with a 4.7″ qHD display (960×540) and runs on a Quad-Core 1.2GHz processor mated with 1GB of RAM. There’s no 4G LTE support but a dual-SIM version is said to be available. So looks like the LG G2 mini isn’t a compact high-end smart phone that we had hoped for.

On-board there’s 8GB of storage that’s expandable with microSD card and it is juiced up with a 2,440mAh capacity battery. The LG G2 mini lacks the Optical Image Stabiliser camera found on its bigger LG G2 brother and settles for a 8MP shooter instead. Design wise the mini looks similar as the LG G2 and comes a rocker button located at the back, right beneath the main camera. Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

According to the source, LG will first release the G2 mini in Russia next month followed by other countries beginning of April.
