Yesterday the purported specs of the upcoming waterproof Sony Xperia Tablet Z2 was leaked by @evleaks and now official pictures of the tablet has finally emerged. Another source, @gadgetleaks has jumped in as well with additional press images of the upcoming tablet.

From the leaked images, the Xperia Tablet Z2 looks similar as the previous Xperia Tablet Z but now comes with an aluminium frame like the current Xperia Z1. The NFC sensor now appears to be located close to the sides, below its 8MP rear camera which seems to be a more practical placement than the current model. At the bottom, the Xperia Tablet Z2 also uses a similar looking dock connector as the current Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra.

The new tablet is said to be running on a faster 2.3GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM and it retains the similar sized 10.1″ Full HD display. The camera comes with a similar 8MP shooter for the rear and a front facing 2MP camera while the battery also is maintained with a 6,000mAh capacity. In terms of dimensions, the new tablet is going to be thinner and lighter. According to @gadgetleaks, the Xperia Tablet Z2 will be 6.4mm thick and weighs just 426 grams for the WiFi only unit and 439grams for the LTE version.

As comparison the iPad Air is 7.5mm thick and is heavier at 469 grams for WiFi and 478 grams for the cellular LTE version. Meanwhile the current Xperia Tablet Z model is 6.9mm thick and weighs 495 grams.

You can view all images of the wafer thin Xperia Tablet Z2 after the break.
