Nokia’s upcoming Android Device codenamed “Normandy” is set to be called simply as the Nokia X. This comes from the latest leaked press image from @evleaks which completes the last piece of the puzzle. The upcoming Nokia X is set to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and this would be replacing its current entry level Asha range of Symbian products.
To recap, the device is said to come with a 4″ 800×480 pixels resolution display and runs a modest dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor with 512MB of RAM. There will be 4GB of on-board storage which can be expandable with microSD and it even comes with dual SIM support. At the moment, it isn’t clear which Android version it will run on and word has it that it could be either Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.
Unlike other Android devices, the Nokia X would not be having the usual Google Play Store but instead it will feature its proprietary Nokia App Store which is similar to Amazon’s Appstore on their Android powered Kindles. Since this is a budget device, we should expect pricing to be below the current Nokia Lumia 525 of around RM200-400 range. The device will also be available in a wide variety of colours like the Asha 500.
