LG G Pro 2’s Knock Code phone unlock feature gets demoed

When LG introduced its G Pro 2 phablet, the event invite teased Knock-knock knockin’ on but it has got nothing to do with Bob Dylan or Guns N’ Roses. Instead it refers to its Knock Code feature which allows you to unlock the screen with a sequential tapping on the display. This is an improvement over the initial “Knock On” feature started on the LG G2 as it doubles up as a security lock for the smart phone.

At first you would think, this could be easily compromised like a typical pattern unlock since the steps can be traced from the fingerprint marks. However if you look closely, it also works with random sizes at any random location on the glass. As long as you get the sequence right, you will be able to unlock your phone rather securely.

The LG G Pro 2 announced last week competes directly with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It features a large 5.9″ Full HD display and runs on the 2.26GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It comes with a 1W loud speaker and a 13MP camera with OIS Plus. Packed with a 3,200mAh battery, the G Pro 2 is 8.3mm thick and weighs 172 grams, which is a mere 4 grams more than the Galaxy Note 3.
