After the BlackBerry Z30, everyone is curious what will be struggling smart phone maker would do next. Now new info has surfaced that BlackBerry is working on a low cost device that’s dubbed as Jakarta. The above picture from N4BB is alleged to be render of the upcoming device, which could be called as the BlackBerry Z3.

Spec wise, the purported Z3 is said to come with a 5″ display that does a lower qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels and it is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1.5GB of RAM together with 8GB of storage. The rear is said to come with a 5MP camera while selfie shots are handled by a 1.1MP front facing camera. For all day usage, the Z3 battery claims to be a 2,650mAh unit which is higher capacity than the BlackBerry Q10‘s 2,100mAh capacity unit.

This could be a competitor in the low cost space to fight off entry level smart phones such as the Lumia 525 and Android handsets priced below RM500. Its previous BlackBerry Q5 was supposed to make BlackBerry 10 device affordable but the price tag puts it among the mid-tier smart phone range. Recently BlackBerry has announced its new BlackBerry 10.2.1 updates which brings a host of new improvements including its support for Android apps with support for APK file installation.
