LG announces L Series III. Its latest range of entry to mid-tier smart phones

Just a week ahead of Mobile World Congress 2014, LG has announced its 3rd generation of LG L-Series smart phones. The new range comes in 3 models – L40, L70 and L90 which offers 3.5”, 4.5” and 4.7” screen sizes respectively. All models will be running on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

The LG L Series is targeted for mass market and it is a notch below its current high end LG G2 and LG G Pro 2 handsets. The L90 is the highest spec among the trio with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage. The 4.7″ IPS display pushes a modest qHD resolution of 960×540 and it is juiced up with a removable 2,540mAh battery. For imaging, the L90 also includes a 8MP rear and 1.3MP front facing cameras.

Next is the middle-child L70 which comes with a smaller 4.5″ WVGA display (800×480 pixels) and runs on a lower dual-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. For storage, it gets smaller with a 4GB capacity on board and comes with a either a 8MP or 5MP main camera depending on market. It also comes with a 2,100mAh battery with an overall thickness of 9.5mm. This makes the L70 slightly thinner than the L90’s 9.7mm.

The L40 is the smallest of the lot. Being an entry level device, it sports a low end 3.5″ HVGA display of 480×320 pixels resolution and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor that’s mated with only 512MB of RAM. The camera is a paltry 3MP unit and it is juiced up with either a 1,700 mAh or 1,540 mAh capacity depending on market.

In terms of connectivity, both L70 and L90 supports 3G HSPA+ up to 21Mbps while its entry level L40 supports 3G HSDPA up to 14.4Mbps. The devices will make an appearance at the coming Mobile World Congress.

Head after the break for the design video of the LG Series III.
