12 minute video gives a detailed walk-through of the upcoming Sony Xperia D6503

After we saw a 2 minute hands-on video of the purported Xperia Z2 smart phone, here comes a longer version which gives us a idea of what’s coming in the upcoming Sony flagship device. Someone has managed to get their hands on the Sony Xperia D6503 and was generous enough to give a good walk-through of the hardware and new features.

There’s no surprises on the design as it features the similar look and feel as the current Xperia Z1. However you’ll notice that on the left it comes with a single flap instead of two. The new device now has the microSD slot on the right, which means that it has swapped places with the microSIM slot that is likely to be moved to the right.

Some of the new features shown include the ability to automatically clear notifications after viewing the notification panel, a “Smart Stay”-like feature to keep the screen on while you’re looking at it and a built-in voice mail answering machine. The video also gives a quick demo of its new Timeshift video. Another neat trick is there’s a new option to wake the phone by tapping on the screen, similar to what we’ve seen on LG G2’s knock-on and the new range of Nokia Lumia windows phones.

During the hands-on video, the display doesn’t seem to be responsive to some touches and we hope Sony will get that fixed in the final product. In terms of specs, the upcoming device is said to be running on a faster 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB and comes with a larger 5.2″ Full HD screen. While the camera is expected to feature the same 20.7MP shooter, the new model is capable of shooting 4K videos. Out of the box, it runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.
