LG G Pro 2 now official with hardware to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The LG G Pro 2 is officially announced and it replaces its former large screen phablet the LG Optimus G Pro. The specs are more or less the same as what was speculated earlier. It comes with a large 5.9″ Full HD IPS display that does 1920×1080 pixels resolution, which is similar with the HTC One Max and runs on a 2.26GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage.

The G Pro 2 is 8.3mm thick and weighs 172 grams. As comparison, the Galaxy Note 3 is also 8.3mm thick but is lighter at 168 grams. In terms of design. it follows the similar look and feel as its flagship LG G2 and carries over its rear mounted rocker buttons and knock-on capabilities at the front.

The LG G Pro 2 boast superior audio capabilities with a high powered 1W loud speaker. Taking photos is another key highlight with a 13MP main camera that’s enhanced with OIS Plus, which is an improvement over its previous LG G2 camera with Optical Image Stabilisation. Like most high end device these days, it is also capable of shooting 4K videos as well. High speed 4G LTE support comes as standard which includes the faster LTE Advance.

Juicing up the device is a large 3,200mAh battery which is said to be removable and for more storage, there’s a microSD slot as well. The LG G Pro 2 will be released in South Korea at the end of this month and is available in 3 colours – White, Silver and Titan. No word on its availability yet but it is likely to be showcased at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. Overall, this is a compelling device from LG which goes head on with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3. The main difference between the 2 is the G Pro 2’s 13MP camera with Optical Image Stabiliser and a bigger display of 5.9″ (Galaxy Note 3: 5.7″).
