Rumours of the upcoming HTC One replacement have been sprouting lately but now word has it that HTC is also working on a “mini” model. Seen as the replacement of the current HTC One mini, the purported specs of the new M8 compact have been leaked by @evleaks.
The HTC M8 compact apparently is slightly bigger with 4.5″ display (HTC One mini: 4.3″) and retains the same 720p HD resolution. It is powered by a newer Snapdragon 400 processor but instead of a dual-core unit, the new model will run with quad-cores clocked at 1.4GHz. The rest of the internals remain the same with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage but this time they have included a microSD memory slot.
In the imaging department, the HTC M8 compact is rumoured to come with a larger 13MP main camera and a front facing 5MP shooter. Similar to the upcoming HTC M8, it will run on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with on-screen buttons as well. You can also expect the new mini device to feature an all new HTC Sense 6.0 UI where the home screen screenshot was just leaked recently.
It is still too early to tell and it will be interesting to see if HTC will launch multiple variants of its new 2014 smart phones simultaneously. If HTC follows the same footsteps of releasing a trio of HTC One device, we could expect a phablet version of the M8 in the works as well.
