Find out if your Sony Xperia smart phone is still getting future Android software updates

Getting the latest Android version is always a concern for smart phone owners, especially if you’re using a device that’s at least 18 months old. Now it seems that you’re able to find out if your Xperia device is given the End of Life stamp on their support page. So far the more recent devices that will not getting future updates include:

Xperia arc S
Xperia S
Xperia SL
Xperia ion
Xperia acro S
Xperia go
Xperia P
Xperia J
Xperia miro
Xperia sola
Xperia tipo
Xperia U

Most of the devices above will be officially updated until Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

For the upcoming Android 4.4 KitKat version, Sony has confirmed that it will be rolled out to the latest Xperia Z1 and early 2013 Xperia Z. You can see that the next version is in development for the respective device here and .

Late 2012 high-end devices such as the Xperia V and Xperia TX might be in luck as both are listed as “under investigation” for Android 4.4 update. Of course, there are other unofficial ways to get the latest Android version which involves the use of Custom ROM.

Sony seems to be pushing their updates a little quicker than before and the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR were recently updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
