Sony’s largest ever smart phone, the Xperia Z Ultra is now available as a WiFi only device in Japan. It is identical with the typical cellular version with a 6.4″ Full HD display, 2.2GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM, 8MP camera and the same IP58 rated water & dust resistance. The only difference is that it comes with a larger 32GB storage, which is double of what we the rest of us get. Interestingly it’s listed as a Xperia tablet, although it isn’t mentioned in the model name.
The Xperia Z Ultra WiFi tablet will go on sale on 24th January in either Black, White & Purple colour. It is priced at 52,000 Yen which is about RM1,650. So far there’s no mention of it being released outside of Japan.
At the same time, Sony has also launched a Xperia Z Ultra 4G LTE version that’s exclusive to au by KDDI. That too gets a bigger 32GB on-board storage as well. Do check out the Japanese Sony Xperia Z Ultra commercial videos after the break
