Small time mobile makers Alcatel OneTouch has big plans and it wants in on the lucrative large-format smartphone market. Realising that it has mountain to climb going against Samsung — the people who invented the market segment two years ago — Alcatel OneTouch is pulling out all the stops with its first 6-inch device, the Hero.
The Alcatel OneTouch Hero features a 6-inch full HD (1920×1080, 367ppi) display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM with 8GB (single SIM) or 16GB (dual-SIM) of on-board storage. There’s also stylus, a 13MP main camera with 1080p, a 2MP front camera with 720p video and a 3,400mAh battery. Alcatel OneTouch have also created a BlueTooth companion device that’s similar to the HTC Mini+ allowing the user to make phone calls as well as send and read text messages.
On paper, the Hero certainly looks interesting but whether brand conscious Malaysians will endear to a relatively unknown brand is something else. Does the Alcatel OneTouch Hero have what it takes to win over market shares from Samsung? The people at Alcatel certainly think so and they’re bringing the Hero to Malaysia this year (when exactly has not been announced). Perhaps, if the price is right, we Malaysians can learn to love anything.
