CES 2014: Lenovo Announces Its iPad Mini Contender, the Windows-Powered ThinkPad 8

Makers of quality and deliciously desirable hardware, Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad 8, a smart looking, Windows-powered 8-inch tablet targeted at professionals.

At the centre of the ThinkPad 8 is an 8.3-inch 1920×1200 display (272 ppi) that is not as pixel-dense as an iPad mini with Retina display but should still be sharp enough its intended use.

On the inside, you get a sturdy aluminium frame construction with a 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Atom Bay Trail processor mated to 2GB of RAM and the option of 32, 64 or 128GB of onboard storage. There are also an array of ports and slots including a micro HDMI port and a USB 3.0 port making it possible for you to connect the ThinkPad 8 to a monitor and a keyboard and mouse for example. On top of that you get an 8MP rear camera with flash and a variant that supports 4G LTE connectivity.

The ThinkPad 8 goes on sale in the US later this month starting from US$399. No word on whether the device will be coming to Malaysia at the moment.
