Sony rolls out firmware update for Xperia Z1. Promises better camera and display performance

Sony has announced that it has started rolling out a new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for its current Sony Xperia Z1 flagship device. The new update is said to have improved its camera algorithm for better performance. Its Social Camera platform is also improved making its camera apps such as Burst Mode, Superior Auto, AR Effect and Panorama mode to run more smoothly.

In addition, the display is also tweaked for better viewing while power management is improved for better battery life. The larger 6.4″ Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be updated as well with improved touch screen sensitivity towards touch, various pens & styluses. So far they didn’t reveal market specific roll out dates and hopefully they would this get it out soon in Malaysia.

In our recent camera comparison test, the Xperia Z1 sample photos left a lot to be desired. Hopefully with this update, the Xperia Z1 would redeem itself as a compelling imaging smart phone.
