Maxis now offers free 4G LTE Cat 4 MiFi on contract

With 4G coverage expanding particularly in the Klang Valley, Maxis has finally introduced its 4G LTE MiFi modem which allows you to create a mobile hotspot. The MiFi modem worth RM500 is bundled for free with its wireless broadband plans of RM88/month and above. If you’re planning to get one, below are the list of eligible broadband options:

RM88/month (5GB Peak + 15GB Off Peak)
RM128/month (7GB Peak + 21GB Off Peak)
RM158/month (12GB Peak + 36GB Off Peak)

The Peak hours are defined as 8AM to 2AM while off peak is a 6 hour window between the 2AM to 8AM. All wireless modem bundles are tied with a 12 month contract. During sign up, there’s a RM100 activation fee and an upfront payment of RM240 which will be rebated back across 12 months.

The bundled device is a Huawei E5776 which supports Cat4 4G LTE with speeds up to 150Mbps. On Maxis network, the claimed average download speeds is about 10-30Mbps with the potential of going up to 75Mbps. The MiFi is capable of connecting up to 10 WiFi devices and has a claimed battery life of up to 10 hours with its rather huge 3,000mAh battery.
