Flagship 5.2″ LG G2 smart phone officially revealed

LG has finally revealed its current flagship device that’s simply called the G2. The new LG G2 naming departs from the usual Optimus monicker used in its Android range of devices. Being a flagship device, it comes with the latest hardware including a top notch Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz with 2GB of RAM and bigger 5.2″ Full HD IPS display which gives a pixel density of 423ppi.

On-board it has 32GB of storage which unfortunately lacks microSD expansion slot. In the imaging department, you’ll get a 13MP camera with Optical Image Stabiliser and over at the front it has a 2MP camera. While HTC is boasting in the audio department with its BoomSound dual-stereo speakers, the LG G2 claims to be the first hi-fi smartphone that is capable of pushing 24 bit 192kHz sound.

During video recording, the G2 has an interesting feature called Audio zooming which lets you focus on a specific sound source that’s being picked up by 3 built-in microphones. Design wise, it is 70.9 wide (1.1mm more than the Galaxy S4) and 8.9mm thick (1.0mm more than the Galaxy S4) which isn’t too bad for a bigger screen and larger capacity battery. It is juiced up with a generous 3,000mAh battery and it weighs 143 grams which is similar to the HTC One.

Another interesting design of the G2 is at the back of the device. In terms of single handed use, the volume rocker and power button is usually harder to reach in the conventional position. As seen on earlier leaks, the back features a volume rocker and power button that’s located right beneath the camera lens. This apparently is easier to reach as it is more natural for the index finger to locate when the device is in the hands. The volume rocker also doubles up as a dedicated camera and memo short cut button as well.

Along with the device, the LG G2 also comes with its own accessories such as a Quick Window Case that lets you view notification, clock and perform basic task while the screen is covered. This isn’t exactly new as found on the Galaxy S4’s S-View Case except that LG went with a square hole instead of a rectangular design. The list of smart features continue such as Dual-Recording as seen on Optimus G Pro, Capture Plus which lets you save the entire web page length as a clip and Tracking Zoom which lets you do Picture-in-Picture video recording. A nice touch on the G2 is Knockon, which lets you wake the device or put to sleep by knocking the screen gently twice.
