IP58 Waterproof Sony Xperia ZR now available at RM1,649

The Sony Xperia ZR is now available in Malaysia with the retail price tag of RM1,649. To recap, the Xperia ZR is a waterproof smart phone which comes with IP55/IP58 dust and water resistant capabilities which lets you go underwater up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. As comparison, the IP57 rated Xperia Z is capable of going up to 1 metre for 30 minutes.

Recapping the specs, the Xperia ZR comes with a 4.55″ 720p display that does 1280×720 pixels resolution and runs on a rather high-end 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM. On-board there’s 8GB of storage which is expandable with microSD up to 32GB.

Since underwater photography and video shooting is its biggest highlight, the Xperia ZR packs a 13MP Exmor RS main camera which comes with a dedicated camera button. Having a dedicated camera button is crucial as the touch screen doesn’t function when submerged in our Xperia Z hands on.
