BlackBerry Q5 Malaysian launch happening soon

Update: Full BlackBerry Q5 details in Malaysia here.

The BlackBerry Q5 is coming to Malaysia soon with its media event happening early next week. The Q5 is an entry level QWERTY device running on BlackBerry 10 OS, which is more of a Curve replacement compared to its higher end BlackBerry Q10 device.

To recap on the specs, the BlackBerry Q5 runs on a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage that’s expandable with microSD. Display wise, the Q5 is similar to the Q10 with a 3.1″ 720×720 touch screen but the Q5 uses IPS LCD as opposed to the Super AMOLED screen found on the Q10. It also comes with a 5MP camera which shoots 1080p HD video as well as a front facing 2MP that does 720p video. No details on the pricing yet but being a “Curve” contender, we reckon it should be priced below the RM1,500 mark.
