If you’ve been looking for an impossibly thin and sleek tablet that’s water-resistant and lighter than the latest iPad, then the Xperia Tablet Z should fit your bill. At 7mm thin, the Xperia Tablet Z is thinner than the 8mm Xperia Z and to top it off, the Xperia Tablet Z is IPX5/57 rated — that means it’s water- and dust-resistant
The Xperia Tablet Z is arguably one of the most beautiful tablets you can get at the moment. The device features Sony’s trademark OmniBalance design first seen on the Xperia Z with its premium all-glass front wrapped around a tight and textured frame but unlike the Xperia Z, the Tablet Z features a matte finish back cover instead of glass.
Bringing substance to style, the Xperia Tablet Z packs a full 1080p 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and a pixel density of 224ppi. Powering the device is a 1.5GHz Quadcore Qualcomm S4 Pro 1.5GHz, mated to 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB of storage with a microSD slot. In the imaging department, you get a 8.1MP rear shooter and 2.2MP front camera that can both shoot 1080p videos. Like the Xperia Z, the Tablet Z is also capable of virtually unlimited, ultra-fast burst mode. Completing the spec sheet is Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, a 6,000mAh battery and stereo speakers. Two colour choices are available – Black and White — and between the two, the white version looks to be the colour to have if you’re looking for an elegant tablet to tote around.
The Xperia Tablet Z is available on pre-order from SenHeng for RM1,999 for the 16GB version. Shipment is expected to arrive June 14. SenHeng will throw in a 7,000mAh battery pack and a screen protector with the Xperia Tablet Z if you pre-order online. Details here.
