The Lenovo P770 and S890 Mid-Range Android Phones Now Available in Malaysia

If you’re in the market for a mid-range Android phone then you’re in luck, the Lenovo Ideaphone P770 and S890 are now available in Malaysia, both for under RM1,000.

Lenovo Ideaphone P770 — RM699
The cheaper of the two Lenovos is the Ideaphone P770 featuring Android 4.1, a 4.5-inch qHD 960×540 display (about 245 ppi), a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM. In the imaging department you get a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front shooter. There’s 4GB of onboard storage that’s expandable via MicroSD up to 32GB. Yes, the specs are nothing to brag about but you get dual-SIM support, a USB OTG cable in the box and a massive 3500mAh battery with a claimed 12.5 days of standby time. That’s 400mAh bigger than the one Samsung put in the Note II (3100mAh), all this in a package that’s a respectable 11.7mm thin and 162 grams light and for less than RM700. Its a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a no frills workhorse.

Lenovo Ideaphone S890 — RM799
The Ideaphone S890 features a 5-inch IPS display with qHD 960×540 resolution (220ppi) with the same Android 4.1 OS and internals as the P770 (dual-core 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 4GB onboard storage, microSD expansion) and dual-SIM support but a smaller 2,550mAh battery and an 8MP rear camera (same VGA front shooter as the P770). At 9.3mm, the S890 is a smidgen slimmer but also slightly heavier at 176 grams. We’re not sure if there’s much value to be had with the S890 as the competition is stiff in this price bracket and you’re probably better off looking elsewhere.

In any case you’re keen, you can check out the P770 here and the S890 here .
