Samsung has just announced its new Galaxy Grand, a new addition to the Galaxy Android family which comes with a 5″ display. While it sits between the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II in terms of dimensions, the Galaxy Grand is a rather mid-spec device with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and a lower screen resolution of 800×480. As a result, the screen pixel density is rather low at about 186 ppi (pixels per inch).
The Galaxy Grand reminds us of last year’s HTC Sensation XL with its big screen on a mid-spec hardware smart phone. It also include 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage which is expandable with micro SD, 8MP camera, 2MP front facing shooter and a 2,100mAh battery.
Running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the Galaxy Grand also comes with the similar features of its higher end siblings such as Zero Shutter Lag camera, Direct Call, Pop up Play, S Voice and Multi-Window. According to Samsung, there are 2 models available – GT-I9082 (dual sim) and GT-I9090 (single SIM). Overall it is 9.6mm thick and it weighs 162 grams which makes it slightly thicker than the Note II (9.4mm). So far no details on its release date and pricing but it is said to be targeted at Asian & European markets.
