The LG Optimus G is officially launched, propelling LG ahead with its most powerful smartphone ever. Under the hood, it is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 1.5GHz quad-core Krait coupled with 2GB of RAM. Over at the front, it has a large 4.7″ True HD IPS Plus display that pushes 1280×768 resolution.
LG has utilised its own G2 Touch Hybrid Display which helped to reduce the overall display panels which makes the Optimus G a rather skinny 8.45mm, one of the thinnest for a large screen smart phone. As comparison, the Galaxy S II which is one of last year’s thinnest is 8.49mm thick.
On board it comes with 32GB of storage and it runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with LG’s custom skin. There are couple of UI enhancement including QSlide which lets you open 2 separate screen simultaneously so that you can do 2 tasks concurrently. In the imaging section, it comes with either 13MP or 8MP camera subject to different market availability. The back of the LG Optimus G is sealed and is juiced up with a built-in 2,100mAh battery and there’s no micro SD expansion. As a flagship device, it comes with the usual bells and whistles including LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and DLNA. The Optimus G overall weighs 145 grams which is slightly heavier than its large screen rivals.
In terms of availability, it will first be available in South Korea next week with global roll out at selected markets beginning in October.
