The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 may look like another 10.1″ Android tablet but its S-Pen and extra multi-tasking features is making it a compelling device. To recap on the specs, it features the similar Samsung Exynos 1.4GHz quad-core processor from the Galaxy S III with a generous 2GB of RAM. It still runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but comes with an array of S-Pen enhanced apps such as S-Note, S-Planner and multi-screen support.
To demonstrate its productivity features, Samsung has released an official hands-on video. One of the interesting features is “Multiscreen” which lets you view S-Note and other apps side by side. Not only this means you won’t need to switch between apps manually any more, but you are able to copy and drag items between windows. Just like the Galaxy S III, it also supports pop-up play where you can overlay your video playback on top of existing apps.
The S-Pen which was first introduced on the original 5.3″ Galaxy Note has been improved as well for the Note 10.1. If you don’t have a very steady hand, it now comes with assisted Shape Match and Formula match which automatically corrects or smooth-en your writing and illustration.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 has already been officially launched in the US and availability for our region should happen sometime soon. In terms of pricing, we would expect this to be priced above RM2,000, which is around the range of the ASUS Padfone.
