UNCONFIRMED: Google’s 7-inch Nexus Tablet Leaked Ahead of Google I/O

Since May, there has been much talk about Google developing its own tablet as a showcase to demonstrate the latest and best innovations that its Android platform is capable of.

Now from Australia, we have what is alleged to be the leaked details of the much talked about device that is said to have come from training materials for the device.

The Nexus Tablet (not its official name) looks to be a 7-inch device that’s apparently built by ASUS. The device is expected to make its global debut at the Google I/O developer conference scheduled to happen this week and here are the unconfirmed specifications:

  • 7-inch 1280×800 IPS Display with a 178-degree viewing angle
  • Android Jelly Bean
  • 1.3GHz Quad-Core Tegra 3 CPU
  • NVidia GeForce 12-core GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB / 16GB Internal Storage
  • 1.2MP Front Camera
  • 9 Hours Battery Life
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • Android Beam NFC
  • Google Wallet support

The Nexus Tablet is expected to cost US$199 for the 8GB version and US$249 for the 16GB version. The hardware isn’t groundbreaking which means that the next iteration of the Android OS, right now only known as Jelly Bean, will have to be awesome to make up for what the hardware lacks.

Of course all of this is unconfirmed so don’t get too excited just yet. Google I/O is happening on June 27-29 in San Francisco, USA. Stay tuned as we bring you the developments on the Nexus Tablet and Android Jelly Bean in the days to come.
