As teased earlier, Maxis is also offering the new iPad for contract bundling. On Maxis, the new iPad can be yours as low as RM999 with 24 months contract of its 12GB plan.
In terms of data plan bundling, Maxis offers 3 plan options – 2GB data plan for RM48/month, 4GB data plan for RM68/month & 12GB data plan for RM108/month. As comparison, Celcom offers its 4.5GB plan for RM70/month and 7GB for RM100/month for the new iPad bundling. The plans from Maxis are tied with 24 months option and they require an upfront payment between RM300 – RM800 depending on plan. The upfront payment will be rebated back evenly across 5 months.
The iPad data plans do not charge for excess data but speeds will be throttled down once you’ve exceeded the limit. To speed up, Maxis also offers top up of data quota from RM8/day for 500MB. For long term add-on, there’s RM18/month for 750MB (30 days) and RM28/month for 1.5GB (30 days).
In addition, it’s worth noting that in certain areas, the Maxis network runs on DC-HSPA+ that’s capable of supporting theoretical download speeds of up to 42Mbps. DC-HSPA+ is supported in the New iPad and Maxis say that in DC-HSPA+ areas subscribers can expect a download speed of up to 10Mbps.
