Sony Reveals Two New Xperia Phones. Both Most Likely Not Coming to Malaysia

The Hayabusa mystery is finally unraveled as Sony lifts the covers off two of its latest Xperia phones both totting LTE connectivity – the 13MP Xperia GX (codenamed Hayabusa) and the Xperia SX which Sony claims is the lightest LTE smartphone.

The Sony Xperia GX packs a 4.6-inch HD Reality Display with 1280×720 pixel resolution (319ppi) and a “stacked” 13MP camera capable of shooting 1080p HD videos with a 1.3MP front camera. The device runs Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by a 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Qualcomm MSM8960 with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of on board memory. Battery capacity is 1,700mAh.

Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia SX boasts a 3.7-inch display with a resolution of 960×540 pixels (298ppi), an 8Mp camera with 1080p video, a 1.3MP front camera and 8GB of internal storage. In terms of processing power, the SX packs the same punch as the GX with a 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Qualcomm MSM8960 mated to 1GB of RAM. On board storage however is half that of the GX at 8GB. Weighing in at just 95g Sony claims the SX is the lightest LTE phone on the planet. There’s also an infrared port and mobile TV support to cater for the Japanese market.

Speaking of the Japanese market, both Xperias, go on sale in Japan in June and by the low-key unveiling, we’re not expecting the GX and SX to make their way to Malaysia.
