HTC Edge – First Quad-core smart phone?

At the pace smart phones are moving, devices with dual-core processor is becoming so passe. Now HTC is rumoured to be working on a quad-core Android smart phone, the HTC Edge which runs on Nvidia’s Tegra 3 running at 1.5GHz. The Tegra 3 is a quad core solution which is also used in the upcoming ASUS Transformer Prime tablet.

Over at the front, the HTC Edge has a large 4.7″ display which is expected to feature a 720p HD resolution. Internally, it is said to be running with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. At the back, it has a backlit 8MP camera with a 28mm f/2.2 lens. Beats Audio enhancement is expected to be thrown in as well.

From the leak photo above, the presence of capacitive buttons indicates that it will be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread during launch. However it is likely to be upgradable to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software.
