HTC Rhyme officially priced in Malaysia, won’t get Plum colour

HTC Malaysia has announced the official pricing for its female-centric Android smartphone , the HTC Rhyme.

The HTC Rhyme features a 3.7-inch 800×480 WVGA Super LCD display, a 5MP main camera with LED and a 1Ghz single-core processor with 768MB of RAM. Along with that, you get Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the latest HTC Sense 3.5 UI skin on top.

In addition, the HTC Rhyme also comes complete with a wireless light-up “charm” that glows to notify owners of incoming calls and messages. Malaysian buyers will get this along with the HTC Rhyme Docking Station and HTC Rhyme Tangle Free Headphones.

The HTC Rhyme retails for RM 1,699 and is expected to be in stores by end October 2011.

Specs-wise, the HTC Rhyme brings nothing new but the emphasis on creating a device designed primarily for women can serve as an attractive selling point when there’s really nothing much separating one Android device from another.

However, it looks like HTC Malaysia is trying to bring the femininity of the Rhyme a few notches down because where in other markets the Rhyme comes in a girly purple hue called “Plum”, in Malaysia, you get a drab grey colour that HTC is calling “Clearwater”. A few of our lady readers were excited with the plum colour when we first reported about the Rhyme, now they’ll just be plum disappointed. Are we right ladies?
