A cheaper Galaxy S II is coming

Samsung has just announced that the Samsung Galaxy R (which was previously only available in Sweden as the Galaxy Z) will be making its way to markets in North & Eastern Europe, South East & West Asia, Middle East Asia, and China. In case you’re a little rusty on geography, Malaysia is within the South East Asia neighborhood, so for those of you who’ve always wanted to get your hands on a Galaxy S II but couldn’t afford one, the Galaxy R could be right up your alley.

Key features of the Galaxy R include a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, 4.2-inch Super Clear LCD display, Android 2.3, 2MP front camera / 5MP camera with 720p HD video capture and 1080p Full HD playback, 8GB on-board storage and support for 32GB Micro SD and a svelte 9.55mm form factor.

No word on pricing and availability date at the moment but we’ll keep you posted when we know.
