The recently launched iPad 2 is 33% thinner than its predecessor. The new glass is also thinner by 27% but how does this affect its toughness and durability?
Here’s a video that demonstrates the flexibility of the iPad 2 glass and its predecessor. It was tested by suspending the glass at 1 and 2 inches from the table and pressured in the middle. Surprisingly the new iPad 2 glass is more flexible and less destructible than the original. So tough in fact that you’ll need brute folding force of both hands to crack the glass.
